MotionBox is our basic, modular CNC controller. For simple machines, you rarely need more than 4 axis and some basic I/O. This is sufficient for most things that you want to control, including laser cutters, milling machines and so on.
We tried for years to make a one-size-fits-all CNC board. Until we realized that every situation is different, and machines tend to grow over time. So instead, we started focussing on maximum flexibility.
Spindles. Most spindles run through RS485, 10v analog or 5v PWM. This board supports all three of them. An extra 5v PWM signal is added for laser cutters. The RS485 interface has some noise reduction features.
Endstops, probes. We added 8 inputs for endstops, basic I/O and probes. If you need more, take a look at our advanced board.
I/O interface. A general purpose CAN-based I/O interface for external peripherals.
Outputs. We added 8 outputs for simple switch devices like relays.
Modules. The board supports 3 general purpose modules for specific applications like high power mosfets. We support a number of general purpose modules.
Motors. Connect up to 6 motors. You can drive stepsticks at 3.3v and external steppers at 5v.
